What can go wrong with a solar powered bore pump?

Suns up, pump pumps, Simple right?

Unfortunately these systems can have can run into problems when you need them most. Depending on the systems design a number of factor come into diagnosis a system failure.

Solar Modules/Panels

  • Dirt, moss, Bird poop, leaves and other environmental obstructions can cause a decrease in solar module/panel performance which your pump is dependant on. Simply cleaning any of these off can help get your pump pumping again
  • Faulty modules/panels can cause your systems to stop working, these have lifetime expectancies and may need to be replaced
  • Faulty cabling or connections as a result of birds and sun exposure can cause faults, decrease in performance BUT MOST IMPORTNANLTY, BE VERY DANGEROUS AND HARMFUL.

Hot Spot Fault
  • Controllers, MPPTs and inverters are constantly working whilst your system runs and like a cars motor, needs servicing and occasionally replacement in order for them to work correctly

Bore pump/motor

  • The submersible unit although out of most elements, spends its life underwater and isn’t exempt from the effects of long environmental exposure. Parts like cable connections, poly fittings, motor windings, and cable could be damaged over time and require servicing or replacement.
